Ekonomi Gazetesi's “Robot farmers are coming” column presents the Izmir Agricultural Technology Center (İTTM), led by the Izmir Commodity Exchange, as a living laboratory for agricultural digitalisation. Orbiba Robotics was one of five ventures admitted to the centre and was featured through its early AI-based “CNC Robotic Farm Vehicle” concept.
An early concept, not a current product claim
The source envisages a vehicle taking on labour-intensive field and garden tasks and uses delicate strawberry harvesting as an example. This does not establish that today's Ecominos has a validated or commercially available strawberry-picking function. It records an early capability ambition in Orbiba's platform thinking.
The distinction matters. Presenting a research concept as a field-tested feature can create the wrong expectation for farmers. Orbiba Robotics' subsequent product direction developed around modular field operations, autonomous mobility, weed management and field analytics.
ITTM's wider mission
The article describes İTTM as a validation environment bringing together universities, producers, technology ventures and agricultural institutions. It cites potential savings of 50% in water through smart irrigation and 50–70% in fertiliser and crop-protection inputs through smart application. Those figures communicate the centre's overall vision; they are not test results for an Orbiba robot.
- Matching real agricultural problems with technology ventures
- Testing prototypes under controlled and real operating conditions
- Bringing producer feedback into product development
- Setting measurable efficiency goals for water, fertiliser and chemicals
Orbiba's presence at İTTM documents a learning phase that predates its current portfolio. That is the distinct value of this story: instead of repeating a general company profile, it shows that the route to Ecominos passed through an early robotics concept and an agricultural innovation laboratory.
